The City of Dallas’ Adoption Program is open to anyone wishing to adopt an animal. Potential adopters are required to complete an adoption application, which requires statements from landlords (where applicable) about required pet deposits, animal size and/or breed limitations. Other criteria regarding structure security are considered. Once you have been approved, there are some basic requirements set forth by law, which must be followed prior to your new friend's going home with you. By Texas State Law and Dallas City Ordinance, all dogs and cats over the age of (3) three months must be sterilized before going home. Costs for this service is included in the adoption fees and is a mandatory part of the adoption process.
The City of Dallas Adoption Program fees are as follows:
Adoption Fee: $ 12.00
Sterilization Costs are as follows
Cats:
Males - $ 20.00
Females - $30.00
Dogs:
Males - $ 30.00 (under 30 lbs.)
Males - $ 45.00 and up (over 30 lbs.)
Females - $ 35.00 (under 30 lbs.)
Females - $ 45.00 (over 30 lbs.)
Fees may be paid by Cash, Check, or Money Order made out to the "City of Dallas". Sorry we are unable to accept Credit Card or Debit Card Payments at this time.
All dogs and cats which are vaccinated against Rabies must be registered with the city (if a Dallas Resident) as required by city ordinance.
